Can I use rear camera in drive?

I got a preowned 2022 Polaris Slingshot SLR and I'm thinking if I can use the rear camera when I drive? Or is there a way to activate that? I understand it's mostly intended for backing up but it would be useful when I tow cargo and when there's just heavy fog or rain.

Check posts about the Slingshot on YouTube. Some guys may have already posted step-by-steps. Would definitely come in handy for towing, so I hear you loud and clear.

Great question, I totally get wanting to see what's directly behind you when towing. But unfortunately, there's no stock way to activate the rear camera on the 2022 models while in drive. Polaris designed it to be an automatic backup camera only, so it's tied directly to the transmission being in reverse.

You could probably wire up a separate camera system with its own display, or even a switch to an existing one if you're good with electronics, but it's not a simple plug-and-play kind of job. You'd have to do some digging into the wiring schematics and be comfortable with splicing wires, so it's definitely a project for someone with some experience!!

I've got a 2017 SLR and looked into this same thing. And yeah, unfortunately, there's no way to activate the backup camera while you're driving unless maybe you get an aftermarket head unit and camera setup. I haven't just gone through with it since the cost for a quality system and the install just wasn't worth it for how often I'd actually use it.
